Which Better WinZip vs WinRAR? Windows Zip and Unzip Tools

WinRAR and WinZip Comparison

For compression and extracting file in Windows, we need good program that is especially fast and not make your file become corrupt or unusable. WinZip or WinRAR has already proven both have to be the best tool to dealing with file compression and decompression, both work perfect.

We deal with compressed files a lot, from flash disk, downloading from the internet and many other source because with compressed file either ZIP or RAR, we distributed many files into single file. And also the compression file working to reduce the size when it's being warped into ZIP or RAR format, so the size is much smaller than if don't compressed it.

The two programs for doing file compression i know is WinRAR and WinZip, so here's a comparison of the two most popular compression tools.

Slogan

WinRAR: Compress, Encrypt, Package and Backup with only one utility
WinZip: The easiest way to zip, unzip, protect and share your files

Performance

I tested today with the latest version of WinRAR and WinZip, to zip and unzip the same files, and this is the results

WinRAR:
- zip: 1.494,843 KB and 1 minute 8 seconds
- unzip: 8 seconds

WinZip:
- zip: 1,494,035 KB with 1 minute 8 seconds
- unzip: 19 seconds

WinZip: 21 day free trial, after that must buy the licence

How small they can reduce the file size is depends on your files you want to compress and the format of compression you want to choose. Zip is the most widely used and probably the most effective format for compressed file. Both WinRAR or WinZip will develop the best possible algorithm to do the compression process, they don't have much different in the results.

I use WinRAR most of the time because it's free and have been using it since the beginning of i am using computer and it's been really helpful.

It doesn't mean that it's better, I just don't want to have two different program that has the same function, and i don't want to buy something if there's something free and functions pretty well.

It such a waste of computer resource and performance to use both WinRAR and WinZip installed. So better to choose one of them, both tools are great, choosing one of them will not have any significant for you to manage your compressed files.

Windows 10 has its own zip extractor, but it's not optimized and incredibly slow, using it will just wasting time, especially if you are dealing with big files, it such inefficient using the default windows zip extractor, using WinRAR or WinZip will help you so much.
